Moving Forward

Well it has been a stressful year with putting our house back on the market and now coming up on 1 year and still owning it life is pretty frustrating when we think about it. We had an offer and we were counter offering and the couple got cold feet and walked away.. our ONLY offer and ONLY interest in a year. Needless to say we wish we had accepted the first offer and been done.

So Jeffrey and I are relieved that after a month of stress that I am healthy and clear of any breast cancer or other problems. I had a biopsy last Thursday and got the good news yesterday. But a scare nonetheless and way too much "what if-ing" going through my mind. (to those reading this and asking, WHY DIDN'T THEY TELL ME, we didn't want anyone else worrying until we knew there was something to worry about, and since there isn't, just be glad for us)

I've struggled since last fall with weight gain and even working with a personal trainer I cannot take off the pounds I've gained since moving here. Turning 40 sucks and I feel my body is falling apart.

I am going to make a concerted effort to control my food intake and become a healthier more positive person. Nothing good comes from stress and I need to be a better in many realms of my life.

So here is to me and my blogging about controling my food intake... I plan to try and blog instead of eat, so look forward to many useless entries of me trying not to eat.

angela

Need to get back to Blogging

So it has been so long since I blogged and did anything that I'm ashamed. I need to get new photos uploaded and start keeping my family and friends updated. I will try and get renewed over the break. I'll have to venture to the basement to upload photos since the laptop won't let me access the external harddrive where all our photos are stored.

I'm envious of my friend Amber and her Dawdler 101 blog site. She is so crafty and creative and I barely have time to email and facebook.. Maybe I FB too much, but it is an easy way to keep up with the world of friends whom I don't ever see.

Just finished some Williams Sonoma hot chocolate that my sister-in-law included in with the girls christmas gifts... YUMMY!!!! but too many calories... I'll have to only have that when I'm really needing a fix.

Jeffrey is working late this week grading papers. My Dad and Jewel arrive on Thursday for 12 days. We are super excited and hope that Atlanta and Pittsburgh have no delays that day.

I'm super tired and hope that does not mean I'm getting sick. I can't do that.

Anyway, promise to update soon!

Too long since I posted

Well it has been far to long since I've written anything and I feel sad and disappointed that I've not kept family and friends up on what my beautiful daughters have been doing all summer. They have both grown up so much and I can't believe Samantha is a year away from kindergarten.

We had our first beach experience last Sunday at Deep Creek Lake in Maryland, although I forgot my camera it was a glorious day. The girls LOVED the sand and waves despite the high winds and cooler temperatures.

I've felt overwhelmed this summer. I desperately want Madelyn to potty train and my patience has been short. I know that does not help her and so I've tried to back off and let her take her time. I know she is only 2 1/2 years old and it was November for Samantha when she trained, but it would save so much money and allow us a bit more freedom.

Jeffrey has been working hard on grant writing (one in particular which won't get him credit for tenure) and so he has been stressed and not able to be home as much as the girls would like. I know we are spoiled that he "has summers off" but when he does not it hurts us all.

I don't know how single Moms do it, taking care of the house, cooking, cleaning and working as well as raising their kids. I crave some alone time and wish for more "date nights" with Jeffrey, but with still owning the house in Illinois our "fun" has been few and far between this summer.

Overall life is wonderful and I have nothing to complain about. We are all happy and healthy and we have a beautiful house. I will work hard to update everyone more often.

Always,
Angela

Rain, rain go away!

Well it seems the rain is never ending these days, although we got a reprieve yesterday which was lovely. But it is part of spring. Of course we are adjusting to the massive amounts of water which rush down every hill and can cause flooding, like at the entrance to our subdivision where the water was overflowing the drainage ditches on both sides. But I got through with no problem in the Vue and by the time we got back the city was there digging out the ditches with a backhoe and adding large rocks to the other side (which I am not sure will really help other than keep little rocks underneath and off the road).

Maddie wants to be outside and does not really understand why we have to stay inside. Soon will be the day we paint the cinder block basement walls as we plan to cover them with drywall. The girls will love to paint it, as long as they understand they we will cover it and then they can't paint the walls afterwards.

Maddie has one more Tuesday of preschool... she will have a program next week and I know we will video it. She likely will just stand/sit and look at us while other kids sing but alas she is only 2 and cannot be expected to really get that yet. Samantha has this week off, as WVU is in finals week. Then she will do three weeks of summer camp. She already misses school so we may end up with two more weeks after that if there is space. I have grand ideas to do "school" type activities over the summer, but also know she is not inclined to listen to me like she does a teacher....

Anyway, life is busy and will remain that way throughout the summer just keeping the girls busy, trying to wear them out each day and hoping that they continue to play together more independently.

Love to all!

Ok, so I'm really bad and have not written about anything in a long time. Spring is here, although currently hiding and we are desperate to sell our house in Minonk, IL. Please pass the link along to ANYONE and EVERYONE!! We are also willing to rent.

The girls are still enjoying school, when they get to go from not being sick. We have run the gamet of being sick in 2009 and Samantha ended up with her first ear infection (DOUBLE with eardrums about to burst). She has about 3-4 days left of antibiotics. Madelyn has been complaining about her ears for 2 days, but no fever today.. hopefully it will clear up on its own.

Madelyn starting singing the ABC's about a month ago and it is so cute. We sing it when we brush her teeth and she does it all coherently except LMNO - mumbling and then starts with P and the rest... too cute!

Samantha will talk your ear off about any of her favorite subjects, but ask about preschool and she will start talking about all her friends, Tess, Charlie, Paxon, Thomas, Grant and Leona.. it is amazing the friends they make so early. But she loves all her classmates.

Madelyn goes one day a week to a preschool for 2 hours. She loves it. Her teacher is Miss Ruth (or roof as she pronounces it) and her classmates all have long names, Sebastian, Charles, Matthew, Lucie and Elisabeth. But she usually hides when it is time to leave because she wants to stay.

I've been busy with MOMS Club and now will start as co-Chair of Maddie's preschool, called Parents Place. I also do an exercise class called Buggies and Babes at the Mall and workout with the coordinator of that class at home once a week. I have not lost weight or inches, but my BMI is down 3 % points since Jan. Not bad. Hopefully the summer will show other losses.

Samantha can ride her bike on the trail so fast Jeffrey and I have to RUN to keep up with her. Soon we will ride our bikes with her and pull Maddie in the trailer.

I have tons of photos, but will upload next time. I'm tired and Jeffrey is at a conference in SanDiego, so I'm in the basement on the computer.

Hopefully the girls and I can all stay well for longer than a 2 week period of time!

Hope everyone is well!
Love,
Angela

So Samantha enjoyed her 4th birthday. It started the Friday before with cupcakes being taken to preschool to celebrate during snack time. Then an elephant cake on Sunday with Aunt Angie and Uncle Mike and homemade pizza! (not in that order)... Then she got her present, a new bike. You can see the purple princess bike as she rides it up and down the street!!! Now we need spring to come so we can get out to the trail.
The girls love dressing up and decided purses and coats, hats and scarves were the perfect hit from the closet....
2009 has been snowy so far and Samantha hates missing pre-school. We hope that will continue once she enters kindergarten.
Hope everyone is happy and healthy!! We will be visiting Illinois in March to work on the house as it is back on the market since our renter cannot afford to buy it or continue renting it. Prayers for a miracle to sell it FAST would be great!!!
Take care!
love,
angela

Well the New Year Year has come and gone and Madeyln enjoyed her 2nd birthday and her Monkey cake. I've set a precedence of making creative cakes so I'm going to have to work hard to make them better and better every year..

We spend the beginning of the new year with a visit from Jeffrey's parents and playdoh became the way to Maddie's heart! She and Sam do love play-doh so it is no surprise when people will make things for them out of play-doh.

Samantha is great with a camera, taking the photo of Maddie and I on Christmas Eve. Of course I failed to get photos of Samantha in her Christmas dress.

Sam is now back at pre-school and happy about it. It has been too long. Today she got to take cupcakes for her birthday and Sunday she will get her requested elephant cake as she turns 4.

Enjoy the photos below!

angela
